When people use the term “Flip” to refer to Filipin@’s.

It’s not only annoying, but it’s degrading. It’s a fuckin’ racial slur, invented by U.S. soldiers who were stationed in the Philippines during the Philippine-American War and after in World War II, which stood for “fuckin little island people” or “funny little island people”.

Anyone who uses this term to either refer to themselves (I’m talking to you ignorant Fil-Am’s who have taken this term as an act of “pride” without even knowing what you are being prideful of) or uses this term to refer to Filipin@’s (like I just saw on my Facebook by someone who I have already had issues with in regards to their racism and fetishization) I will personally call out on you.

End of rant.

Oh no. I feel like such an ignorant Fil-Am. I’m glad I know now and will NEVER use it.I will also make sure other Fil-Ams know this if I catch them using it. Thank you Ligaya.

Seeing this reminds me so much how assimilated I was and how much of that whiteness kool-aid I drank for such a long time. UGH
